Teutonia Gardens is a 45,840-square-foot mixed-use building featuring 24 apartment units. These apartments are available to individuals and families earning between 50% and 60% of the County Median Income, along with a few market-rate apartments.

Each unit includes two full bathrooms and comes equipped with a full-size washer and dryer, dishwasher, range, refrigerator, garbage disposal, and microwave. Half of the units offer either recessed or overhanging balconies. Tenants also have access to full-sized storage closets on each floor and a parking garage located on the ground level. Common areas in the building feature a business center, clubroom, and fitness room. At the rear of the development, there is a children's play area, a grilling area, and an urban garden.

The building also houses three commercial suites, totaling approximately 6,000 square feet. The ground floor is anchored by Handsome Barber Shop, which has served the community for over 40 years. The name "Teutonia Gardens" is derived from the two-thirds acre urban garden located at the back of the property.

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) selected the building to receive a "Best Management Practices" grant to implement a unique stormwater mitigation and irrigation design using an underground cistern. This cistern, which holds 5,000 gallons, is buried beneath the play area.

Teutonia Gardens was funded through a combination of public, private, for-profit, and non-profit sources.

Forty years after being a focal point of the civil rights movement in Milwaukee, the northwest corner of Teutonia and Center experienced a rebirth by infusing affordable housing units and commercial space to revitalize this historic area. The groundbreaking celebrated the achievements of the 1967 Civil Rights Marches.
